Hayzey's First Day

Today was Hayzey's first day of kindergarten. Mrs Gazzarus is back to work next week.

Apparently the dropoff went pretty well - Mrs G stayed at kindy for a few hours with Hayzey and LGR and saw off the morning sleep and a bit of a feed. When Mrs G left Hayzey and LGR were quite happily playing with each other.

During the day Hayzey had another sleep, a bit of a feed, played in the sandpit and pressed some buttons on some toys.

Mrs G and I arrived at kindy together to pick the kids up. LGR was his normal self but Hayzey seemed very quiet - until we got in the car. Suddenly she picked up, started yelling with delight and letting us know she was allright :-)

It's quite a sad day really - both our kids are in day care now. That's the price you pay for living in Sydney :-(

Standing

Hayzey is now standing, unsupported, for periods of up to 10 seconds. The only catch is that we have to put her in that position. Once she is there she's pretty stable. Sometimes she falls over immediately; other times she gradually lowers herself to the ground and other times she will stand there for the full 10s and then collapse on herself.

Night Shift ....

Hi Folks

Here I am at 04:30am - 10.5 hours into my shift and only 1.5 hours to go. Starting to get a bit weary.

This week I have had one very nice conversation with LGR, and Mrs G and I had one very interesting conversation with him.

The nice one first:

We were discussing the weather while I was pushing him on the swing at the park. He asked me why it wasn't raining - he could see clouds and even informed me that the TV Lady said it would rain. I told him that the lady on TV made a mistake. This is still a bit of unknown concept (mistake) and I had to assure LGR that making a mistake is different to being naughty; and that everyone makes mistakes.

His reply? "Not Mummy". When asked if Daddy makes mistakes I was met with a giggle and the single word reply of "Yes"

Now the interesting conversation.

Mrs G, myself and LGR were discussing the upcoming birthday parties over dinner when he suddenly piped up with "The funny girls will come to the party!". We thought this was cute; until he followed it up with "We will give them beer!"

I have no idea where this came from or exactly what he meant - but I'm sure everyone has their own interpretation. Those who've eaten with LGR will understand his interpretation of beer ....
