What Have We Been Up To?

It's been almost two weeks since my last update. I've meant to put something; but have been sidetracked by a few things.

I'll start with the kiddies .....

Hayzey is beginning to crawl. Mrs G and myself have seen her take up to 5 'crawls' at a time; but she still prefers the belly. The knee crawl is very awkward and very cute to watch. Sometimes we become convinced she is going to crawl on her hands and feet - but she always seem to lose balance.

Hayzey has also discovered our steps - so the step guard is back on and in duty. So far she's only gotten to the 2nd step, but she's also had some very near misses.

The other interesting thing Hayz is doing is eating toast. She loves it. We give her half a piece of wholemeal at brekky each day and she tears into it. There are no teeth yet so she gums it to death.

LGR is back on the Wiggles wagon bigtime. He loves music - and has started to improvise by interspersing songs and mixing in his own lyrics. There must be at least 50 songs that he knows and he recognises so many more. Earlier today we caught him walking around saying 'Six months in a leaky boat' (Split Enz I think?) and last night he told me how much he likes 'Eagle Rock'. Cool kid :-)

The other new trick he is doing and just an embellishment on an old one - talking our ears off. There's a bit less 'Why?' going on but there's a lot more general question asking and plenty of telling Mummy and Daddy (and anyone who will listen) what's going on and why it's happening.

There's not much new in the life of Mrs G and myself. Mrs G is still loving maternity leave and I'm still jealous that she has it. I've done a bit of study and have managed to finally pass an Industry certification exam. I'm trying to run, but am having all sorts of problems with my right shin. Maybe it's time to take up swimming or cycling? Can you imagine me swimming for recreation? Very boring - although I did manage to do it for 2 consecutive months earlier this year.

But that's enough - there should be some pics up pretty soon.

Ooroo.

LGR and the phone

It's been a while since my last post and I've been getting asked when the next one is coming. Here 'tis.

Why so long? I've been busy. Working, studying, playing with the kids. I've even been able to run a little bit lately.

What's my point? No point.

A few days back Mrs Gazzarus was talking to Mum McK and LGR decided he needed to talk on the phone too - just for a change. I wasn't aware of this but a decision was reached to put LGR on the phone and Mum McK grabbed Corky. It was at this point that LGR had his first phone conversation with a friend.

Nice one :-)

A Weekday Sojourn to Katoomba

Our latest adventure was back to Katoomba - to visit our Mum's.

Once again it was a gorgeous day - no wind, no rain, bright sun. Is this really winter?

First stop was Ma's house. Both kiddies were well and truly refreshed courtesy of good sleeps in the car and both were raring to go when we arrived. Upon entering the house it became apparent that the new furniture had indeed arrived and was looking fine in it's new place of residence. After testing out the table, chairs and lounge it was outside for some 'digs' and a bit of a chat over the back fence with a chap I used to go to school with (and who, coincidentally, happens to work about 10 minutes from where I live).

It was a nice visit - Mrs Gazzarus and Grandma had a nice time looking over old pictures, LGR and Hayzey did their things and I got to watch plenty of cooking shows courtesy of the Lifestyle Food channel.

The only down side was LGR having a pretty good chuck after lunch. We had fish pie (which I thought was gorgeous) but in hindsight this is unlikely to be a cause. After the chuck he had a snooze and he wake up after Uncle G arrived home. LGR was plenty pleased to see Uncle G.

Next stop was Nanna's place - also in Katoomba. Within 5 minutes of arriving multiple baskets of toys were being sourced and a huge mess was created. In an interesting twist LGR asked Nanna to see photo's of Daddy when he was little. These failed to come out, but I'm sure he'll ask again :-)

Not much happened at Nanna's - we sat around chatting about all sorts of things and took it in turns to play with the kids. Hayzey brought out a new trick - a double leg climb over. She had managed a single over my leg on Sunday but this was twice as good!!

Dinner was, as requested, a very quicky and easy affair of the most impressive wafer thin beef steaks with bread and salad - quite possibly the best steak sambo's I've ever had.

LGR had another enormous chuck after dinner - this time all over me (ie the right shoulder, front and back of my shirt). The evening was called shortly after. We almost made it home - but LGR had another chuck about 20 minutes from home.

In spite of this we had another good day - it's always nice to get back up the mountains. Even if we did live their once upon a time ....

Chipping Norton Lakes

It's a nice day :-)

We woke up this morning with not a single plan. Up until about 3pm yesterday we were going to visit the Zoocows of upper Wollongong to congratulate them on the birth of their second kiddy - but this has turned out to be a bit of an issue and the trip won't be made. Regardless - congrats to the Zoocow family!!

After some 'deliberation' we decided a trip to somewhere with some water to look at and a bike track to ride on was in order. Chipping Norton Lakes is the nearest place with both of these things so off we went.

It was a magnificent day - about 18 degrees, no wind, bright sun. We turned up and the area we frequent was not overly busy. There were some new toys installed, and the old wooden toys had been removed. And the 'beach' was covered in some sort of weird aquatic plant. But apart from this it was much as we remember.

What did we do there? LGR and I went for bike rides, LGR went for a few walks with Mummy, Hayzey crawled around the place trying to eat leaves, cheesy rice biscuits and just about everything else, we dug in the sand, played on the 'boat', went on the slide and swings, had a fast food lunch, lay around snoozing, played soccer, wrestled, giggled and had a good time.

It was a truly nice day.
