Snow Day?

We got busy again today - this time going up the mountains to Katoomba for what had been advertised (in some very professional brochures) as 'Snow Day'.

I have never felt more ripped off in my whole life - and everything at 'Snow Day' was free. It turns out that 'Snow Day' actually meant a couple of chunks of ice in front of an inflatable snowman, 4 small fans blowing 'snow flakes' and a game that involved throwing a ball through a hole in some plywood.

Geez. Not good.

The rest of the day was ok however. We cut our losses pretty quickly and went driving out to Blackheath and out to a place called Anvil Rock. It was magnificent. I lived in the mountains for approx 12 years and never knew this place existed. More people should know about it - but maybe it's better they don't. The vista was amazing - vertical orange and sandstone cliffs topped by rolling mountains and intermittent views to the horizon. Fantastic. While there we also visited a spot called the wind eroded caves which are also quite amazing. The 4 of us went for a bit of a clamber on the 'cave' and there should be some reasonable pics out of the adventure.

Best of all LGR has decided that driving on rough dirt roads, walking through the bush, looking at views and climbing rocks is all pretty ok. We now called it 'adventuring'.
